Neal "Gregory" McGaha was born in June 1967 in Royston, the small Georgia town known as the home town of baseball great and Hall of Famer Ty Cobb. In an effort to persue a split career, baseball and art, Neal attended South Georgia College to further his baseball career. He then transferred to Georgia Southern where it became apparent to him that art would play the dominant role in his life. In addition, he was educated at the Art Institution of Atlanta where he graduated in 1991 with top honors.

Gregory enjoys painting a wide diversity of subject matter from sports scenes to still lifes and landscapes. Inspiration for his landscapes comes from his love of traveling the countryside where he often takes his easel, setting up in a field to catch the play of light on a rolling meadow or hill.
